The orders to the Robot are to destroy the Jupiter II spacecraft after 8 hours into the flight and the family and pilot within. Unable to exit the departing spacecraft in time, Smith finds himself an "Accidental Stowaway." With a weight shift and a changed flight profile, the Jupiter II heads to a meteor shower and is almost destroyed. The Robot, still under orders to destroy the ship, begins to wreak havoc on the control systems and is stopped just in time.
